Puzzle Types
Classic
Classic puzzles are the standard Sokoban puzzles. These puzzles are marked with a Box ( ) next to the puzzle name. The goal of the puzzle is to push all of the boxes onto the goals. Listed below are the specific rules to solve a Classic puzzle:
- Only one box can be pushed at a time.
- A box cannot be pulled.
- The player cannot walk through boxes or walls.
- The puzzle is solved when all boxes are on the goals.
Modern
Modern puzzles contain many objects such as Portals, Holes, and Doors. These puzzles are marked with a Heart Box ( ) next to the puzzle name. The same rules apply when solving a Modern puzzle:
- Only one box can be pushed at a time.
- A box cannot be pulled.
- The player cannot walk through boxes or walls.
- The puzzle is solved when all boxes are on their corresponding goals (ex. Heart Boxes on Heart Goals, Club Boxes on Club Goals).
Essentials
Player / Twin Player
You are in control of the Player. The Player can move up, down, left and right by using the arrow keys on the keyboard. Switch to the Twin Player by clicking on him or hitting the “E” key. The Twin Player is controlled by the arrow keys, and shares the same characteristics of the Player.
Wall
Walls surround a Sokoban puzzle and the Player cannot walk through them. Walls make up the layout of the puzzle.
Box/Goal
Boxes can be pushed by the Player. Boxes must be placed on all the Goals in the puzzle.
Modern Box / Modern Goal
Modern Boxes can be pushed by the Player. Each Modern Box must be placed on the corresponding Modern Goal. Modern Boxes come in five shapes; Heart, Club, Diamond, Spade, and Star. The Player must place one Modern Box on each of the puzzle’s Modern Goals to solve the puzzle. Modern Goals come in five shapes; Heart, Club, Diamond, Spade, and Star.
Objects
Wild Card Box
Wild Card Boxes can be pushed by the Player, and do not have to be placed on any of the Goals in the puzzle.
Ice Floor
Pushing any Box onto an Ice Floor will cause the Box to slide. Ice Floors will also cause the Player to slide.
Fragile Floor / Hole
Stepping over Fragile Floor with the Player will cause the floor to turn into a Hole. The Player can fall into a Hole and render the puzzle unsolvable. Boxes can be pushed into holes to create new paths.
Rail
Rails will cause Boxes to be pushed in mandatory directions, depending on the layout of the Rail. For example, a Rail that is vertical means that the Box can only be pushed up or down while on the Rail. A Player can move along a Rail freely.
Magnet / Switch
Magnets prevent all Boxes from being pushed pass them. If a Magnet is facing towards a Box, that Box cannot be pushed. Step into the Magnet Switch on the wall to rotate the Magnets clockwise.
Door / Button
Doors block the path of Players and Boxes. To open a Door, all of the Buttons of the matching color must be pressed. Press a Button by placing a Player or Box on it. Some puzzles will contain Doors of matching color that are both open and closed. Stepping on the Buttons of these Doors will toggle the Doors. You can force Doors of matching color to stay open even without all the Buttons being pressed by placing a Box on them or walking on them with a Player.
Portal
Portals will transfer Boxes and the Player to the Portal that shares the same color. Boxes and Players will be teleported CLOCKWISE if they run into a wall or object.
