    very neat! its crazy that ive been on this site for, what, seven years, and ive never noticed that portal bug. or maybe i did and forgot. who knows.

    The fact that the other object will be teleported up is not a feature, it is a bug.

      @Jonathan: Thanks for the clarification. I see no problem publishing tricky puzzles as long as the rules are made clear. Today, the non-usual portal behaviour is not documented, as you pointed out yourself. Even the portal deactivation (or intoxication, as I like to name it) does not appear in the documentation.

      @sardinakawkaw: I hardly think this "bug" would ever been re-examined. In my opinion, it would just have to be documented. Otherwise, you will have to reassess all modern puzzles involving portals for their eligibility... or simply take the easy way out and delete all modern puzzles containing portals. And you would not want to imagine how many of those are out there.

      @sardinakawkaw: its pretty interesting to me that portal blocking isnt in the help guide, but also documenting all of the strange quirks of portals is a feat in and of itself... maybe a seperate section would be useful for that, because it would definitely be intimidating when you just start out. imagine just visiting and theres an hour long lecture about the inner mechanics of the game and why some specific portal configurations lead to errors, lol

      @Dewed: For this reason, there can exist some puzzles involving portals which can be rendered unsolvable even if their exact layouts are rotated. Such as this one, when it's flipped vertically or rotated 90° counterclockwise.

      @Jonathan Handojo: so . . . a x b ≠ b x a

      @PGT: That's a good analogy, but yes. It kinda works like matrices. You'll start to explore more of these things yourself as you explore and build more puzzles.
